**DISCLAIMER** I am still working on my social media presence, so I apologize in advance for it being underwhelming. I want my focus to be on my learning and not on running social media, so I will do what I can.
I grew up playing video games with my brother from the moment I could hold a game pad. I fell in love with technology from a very young age, seeing it as something magical, and always wanted to understand it as much as possible. I enjoyed playing around on the family computer but you know how that goes, your parents don’t want you to mess it up.
When I finally got my own laptop pc I started familiarizing myself with the navigation of the windows operating system, troubleshooting process, and working with software applications. I eventually outgrew my Dell Inspiron 1501 and opted to build my own desktop gaming pc. I maintained, repaired, and upgraded that system to the point where I again outgrew it and designed an even stronger pc.
At this point I had started my own side business where I would design/build custom pc’s and offer troubleshooting/repair services to friends, family, and coworkers. I have always had a knack for tinkering and am a bit of a Mr. fixit to those who know me. I even ended up taking on an equipment repair technician role at my local coffee shop. I take great satisfaction in helping others and working with technology, especially computers.
I realized I needed to have a career in IT so I started getting certifications, building a home lab, doing virtualization labs, joining cyber security communities, and networking with local IT professionals. I finally broke into IT and am already looking towards my next goal, which is entering the cyber security domain. I am just starting out in help desk but I would love to be a penetration tester one day.
I created this website for the express purpose of developing my communication skills and blogging my journey into cyber security. I have a bit of a backlog on projects since I didn’t really have a good medium for sharing them, so I will start trying to put some of them together for some blog posts, along with all my current/future projects.
To all of you that are struggling to break into the IT field: keep your chin up, put the work in, refine your process when you fail, and don’t give up. I hope this blog can prove useful to others as they learn on their own paths.
